Portraits Your Family Will Treasure Forever
Life moves quickly.
Children grow up.
Grandchildren become adults.
The opportunity to create professional portraits with parents and grandparents becomes more valuable with every passing year.
Portrait Day allows your family to preserve those relationships through beautiful professional photography.
A Portrait Experience Designed Around Relationships
Instead of coordinating travel and logistics for elderly family members, the portraits are created where your loved one already lives.
This makes participation easier and more comfortable for everyone.
The focus is not simply taking pictures.
The goal is to preserve connections between generations.
We capture:
- Hugs
- Laughter
- Storytelling moments
- Hand-holding
- Grandparents interacting with grandchildren
- Natural family relationships
These are often the photographs families cherish most.
What Should I Wear?
One of the questions I hear most often is, "What should we wear for our portrait session?" The good news is that there is no single right answer. The most important thing is that you wear clothing that makes you feel comfortable and confident.
For individual and couples portraits, most clients choose attire that they would wear to a nice dinner or a special evening out. Men often wear a polo shirt, button-down shirt, sport coat, or even a suit and tie. Women may choose a nice blouse and slacks, a dress, or a business suit. Since many portraits are photographed from the waist up, focus on selecting clothing that fits well, flatters you, and reflects your personal style.
For family portraits, coordination is more important than matching. Rather than having everyone wear the exact same outfit, choose colors that complement one another. Coordinated outfits create a polished look while still allowing each family member's personality to shine through.
Please make sure that your hair is clean and well-groomed. Ladies, be sure to schedule your hair appointments a few days before you're photographed, if you need a touch-up. Also, check your outfits for stains and have them washed and pressed if necessary.
To create a timeless portrait that will look beautiful on your wall for years to come, I recommend avoiding bold stripes, large plaids, busy patterns, and clothing with prominent logos or graphics. These elements can distract from what matters most: the people in the portrait.
If you're unsure what to wear, I'm happy to help. Clients may send me photos of their wardrobe options before the session, and I can provide recommendations on colors, styles, and coordination.
